Identifying Post-Conviction Relief Options for Immigrant Clients

This free CLE will provide an introduction and guidance to post-conviction relief (“PCR”) for clients with convictions in New York State. The course will lay out relevant PCR statutes for New York convictions, how immigration practitioners can identify that PCR may be an appropriate defense or strategy, and tips for immigration practitioners to coordinate strategy with PCR counsel. The course will also cover recent case law related to ensuring PCR effectiveness in removal proceedings.

  • Common grounds for PCR including learning to use PCR in immigration court and administrative proceedings
