Genia Blaser

Director of Hotline

Genia leads IDP’s Hotline and the creation of resources for immigrants, their loved ones, and immigration advocates.  Genia has spent over a decade advising and training criminal defense attorneys on the immigration consequences of criminal contact at IDP and elsewhere. In previous roles at IDP, she worked as part of the Padilla Support Center as well as led the organization’s ICE raids monitoring work, tracking and analyzing the trends and tactics of ICE community arrests in the New York area. Genia came to IDP from the immigration practice at The Bronx Defenders, where she worked with attorneys on minimizing the immigration impact of contact with the criminal and family regulation systems, and represented clients in affirmative and defensive immigration proceedings.  She received her law degree from Northeastern University School of Law and her undergraduate degree from Hampshire College.
