IDP Launches NY ICE Collusion Watch to Expose Law Enforcement Colluding With ICE & CBP

The Map Shows the Urgent Need to Pass NY for All

NEW YORK – The Immigrant Defense Project today launched New York ICE Collusion Watch, an interactive map that will track patterns of collusion identified between law enforcement and  Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) and Customs and Border Protection (“CBP”) across New York state.

The map seeks to expose the proliferation of this collusion which uses discriminatory and aggressive policing to surveil, racially profile, and target immigrant New Yorkers.

The map currently exposes over three dozen instances of collusion between local law enforcement and ICE or CBP since Trump’s first administration, focusing on the last year. Following today’s launch, IDP will continue to update the map as more examples of this collusion come to light.

New York ICE Collusion Watch seeks to expose a crisis in New York State and fuel efforts to stop it – most immediately by passing the New York for All Act, which would broadly prohibit state and local resources from being diverted to carry out a cruel mass deportation agenda, and end New York’s complicity in the state-sanctioned violence being carried out by the Trump administration.

New Yorkers want our state to be at the forefront of protecting our loved ones and neighbors from ICE’s violence and lawlessness but over the past decade, ICE and CBP have increasingly relied on local law enforcement and local government agencies to search for, arrest, and deport New Yorkers.

“While several other states have passed statewide protections to protect against this type of collusion, New York still has not passed the New York for All Act. Currently, while Governor Hochul’s own proposal would end 287g agreements – contracts between ICE and local and state law enforcement – it would otherwise leave law enforcement throughout our state unrestricted from colluding with ICE and CBP as they choose. This pervasive harm, as illustrated on the Collusion Watch map, makes clear that New Yorkers cannot wait a moment longer for the solution we need. The time to pass the New York for All Act is now,” said Linda Flor Brito, Senior Manager of Policy & Organizing at the Immigrant Defense Project.
