IDP is an Official Charity Partner of the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon!

For nearly three decades, the Immigrant Defense Project (IDP) has stood alongside immigrant New Yorkers facing the harsh realities of unjust policing, detention, and deportation. Founded in the wake of the 1996 laws that dramatically expanded the government’s power to detain and deport non-citizens, IDP was created to fight for fairness in a system stacked against our neighbors.

Today, IDP works to reduce the disproportionate consequences immigrants face after contact with the criminal legal system. We reform unjust deportation laws and policies, and we equip immigrants, attorneys, and advocates with the tools and knowledge they need to defend against them. Our guiding principle is simple: every person deserves dignity, and no one is disposable.

The TCS New York City Marathon is more than a race—it’s a celebration of resilience, diversity, and the strength of community. Runners from every borough and across the globe take to the streets of New York City, cheered on by neighborhoods that reflect the very communities IDP fights to protect.

Immigrants are essential to what makes New York the vibrant, multicultural city the Marathon represents. They power our workforce, enrich our culture, and strengthen our communities. Partnering with the Marathon allows us to lift up a shared message: that everyone deserves fairness, dignity, and the opportunity to build a life in this city.

Support Our Runners

Our marathon team is dedicating months of training — and 26.2 miles on race day — to raise critical funds for our programs. Every donation, no matter the size, fuels their journey and helps power the work we do all year long.

Stay tuned for direct ways to support our runners!
