Community members have been arrested by ICE at airports when they were trying to fly domestically, creating fear.
- How? TSA has been sharing people’s information with ICE to target them for detention and deportation.
Who is being targeted?* We do not fully know who is being targeted. All people who are undocumented or have temporary immigration status may face some risk. However, we believe there is higher risk for:
- People with deportation orders even if they have some form of protection (*note: this includes people with Withholding of Removal and protection under the Convention Against Torture).
- People with prior arrests or cases in the criminal legal system who are more likely to have an ICE administrative warrant.
What should I do if I plan to fly domestically?
- Learn if you have a deportation order (an “order of removal”). If you have an A number, call 800-898-7180 or visit the EOIR website. If you are unsure, consult with an attorney.
- Give a trusted loved one your A number (if you have one) and access to documents related to any immigration or criminal legal case.
- Share your travel information with your loved ones and keep them updated as you travel so they can find help if needed.

ICE en los aeropuertos: Riesgos de los viajes nacionales
Miembres de la comunidad han sido arrestados por el ICE en los aeropuertos cuando intentaban tomar vuelos nacionales, lo que ha generado miedo.
- ¿Cómo? La TSA ha estado compartiendo información personal de los ciudadanos con el ICE para identificarlos y someterlos a detención y deportación.
¿Quiénes son los afectados?* No sabemos con certeza quiénes son los afectados. Todas las personas indocumentadas o con estatus migratorio temporal pueden correr cierto riesgo. Sin embargo, creemos que el riesgo es mayor para:
- Personas con órdenes de deportación, incluso si cuentan con algún tipo de protección (*nota: esto incluye a las personas con suspensión de la deportación y protección en virtud de la Convención contra la Tortura).
- Las personas con antecedentes penales o con casos previos en el sistema de justicia penal tienen más probabilidades de tener una orden de detención administrativa emitida por el ICE.
¿Qué debo hacer si planeo volar dentro del país??
- Averigüe si tiene una orden de deportación (una “orden de expulsión”). Si tiene un número A, llame al 800-898-7180 o visite la pagina web de EOIR. Si tiene dudas, consulte con un abogado.
- Proporcione a un ser querido de confianza su número A (si lo tiene) y acceso a los documentos relacionados con cualquier caso legal de inmigración o penal.
- Comparte la información de tu viaje con tus seres queridos y mantenlos informados durante tu viaje para que puedan buscar ayuda si es necesario.
